The Signature Piece

One silhouette.
Every cloth, once.

The U-Bag is Theresa's original form — a curve designed to let the textile speak first. Each one is made once, from cloth she has sourced herself.

The Form

A shape that earns its keep.

Most bags compete with their cloth. Pockets, closures, stiffening, structure — the construction overwhelms what you came to see. The U-Bag starts from the opposite premise.

The curve is the result of removing everything unnecessary. No external pockets. No rigid frame. The shape opens wide at the top, carries flat against the body, and holds its silhouette through the weight of what is inside it — not through added structure.

The result is a bag that reads clearly from across a room. You see the cloth. You see the curve. That is the point.

Construction

Made to be seen up close.

Black mudcloth U-Bag with geometric patterns and bamboo handles
Brass magnetic clasp closure detail
Mali mudcloth fabric texture — hand-painted bogolanfini pattern

Hand-stitched seams

Every seam is finished by hand. The stitching is part of the object.

Brass hardware

Solid brass clasp, chosen for weight and longevity. Not decorative — functional.

Cloth as skin

The textile sits on the exterior without coating or treatment. It breathes. It ages. That's the intention.

Everyday Use

A bag for a real day.

The U-Bag opens wide enough to find what you need without digging. The interior is linen-lined with a single flat pocket — enough organization without over-engineering.

What fits

  • Wallet, keys, phone
  • A paperback or small notebook
  • A pair of sunglasses in a case
  • A reusable water bottle (smaller sizes)
  • Everything you carry on a day you want to look put together

The U-Bag carries dressed up or dressed down. It does not ask you to change how you dress — it shifts with you.

The Silhouette

One shape. Three moods.

The U-Bag never changes its form. What changes is what it wears. Each textile brings a different character — same curve, entirely different object.

Three U-Bags side by side in mudcloth, Aso-Oke, and indigo mudcloth — same silhouette, three different expressions

Graphic. Grounded. The original.

Mudcloth — Black & Cream

Hand-painted earth pigments over hand-woven cotton. Every mark is intentional. No two pieces share the same field.

Warm. Woven. Luminous.

Aso-Oke — Terracotta

The structured weave catches light differently as you move. The geometry is in the making, not the printing.

Deep. Quiet. Rare.

Mudcloth — Indigo

Indigo-ground mudcloth is less common than the classic black. Its color is richer in certain light, almost blue-black.
